James Njenga Mungai
James Njenga Mungai – Chairman
A business magnate with interests in the Banking Industry, Large Scale Farming, and Real Estate Management, Mr. James Njenga Mungai is a force to reckon with in the Kenyan business sector. As a former National Hospital Insurance Fund Chairman, he has a vast wealth of experience spanning over 40 years and has knowledge in both the public and private sectors. His vast business interests and experience make him a well-respected and influential figure in Kenyan society.
Albert Kigera Njenga
Albert Kigera Njenga – Director
Albert is a qualified Information and Technology Specialist, with over 10 years of experience. He has Managerial and Proocurement expertise for businesses with particular interest in Hotel and Telecommunications industry. Currently, he is the Group Procurement Director of Jacaranda Hotels Kenya. He is also a Director at Jacaranda Holdings Limited, Karume Investments Limited, Enterprise Data Freedom and Village Inn Limited.
Anthony John Kiguru
Anthony John Kiguru – Director
Kiguru is an Alumnus of the University of Western Ontario, Canada having graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Philosophy. He has corporate experience from having previously held senior positions in Unilever and Elida Ponds. He also has interests in wood product manufacturing and interior design through Directorships in Avanti Limited and The Resting Place and sits on the Board of Directors for Managu Limited, Gigiri 1976 Limited among other Companies.
Robert Kagwe Githui
Robert Kagwe Githui – Director
Mr. Kagwe Githui joined Pelican Insurance in 2006 as our General manager rising to become the Managing director. He has over 30 years experience in the insurance industry, having worked in various insurance firms in Kenya. Mr. Kagwe holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Insurance from the University of Nairobi, and he is a former Vice Chairman of the Association of Insurance Brokers of Kenya (AIBK). He is a highly experienced insurance professional and has a deep understanding of the Kenyan insurance market.
Cynthia Mungai
Cynthia Mungai – Managing Director
Ms. Mungai was involved in the design, and rebranding of Pelican for over a decade placing the Company at the top of Insurance brokerage firms in the country. She is also involved in marketing activities and overall operations management at Pelican Insurance Brokers (K) Ltd. In addition to her expertise in the insurance industry, Ms. Mungai holds a Master of Business Economics from Middlesex University, United Kingdom, and a Bachelor of Law and Business from the University of Kent, United Kingdom. She is a member of London’s Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) and the Insurance Institute of Kenya (IIK). Cynthia has served in various senior capacities and has a wealth of experience in insurance spanning over 12 years. She is currently a board member of the Association of Insurance Brokers of Kenya.
Naomi Njeri Njagu
Naomi Njeri Njagu – Company Secretary
A qualified and highly experienced Accountant and Auditor with extensive knowledge and skills in setting up and implementing financial systems. Naomi has been the Company secretary since 2007. She is also company secretary with Jacaranda Hotels Group, where she joined in 2004 from Blue Shield Insurance Company. She is a Certified Public Accountant CPA (K) and has a Bachelor’s Degree in business administration (Finance) from the University of Nairobi. Naomi is a valuable asset to the organization, and her experience and knowledge are vital to the smooth operation of the business.

Cynthia Mungai
Cynthia Mungai – Managing Director

James M. Kihara
James M. Kihara – General Manager
Mr James M.Kihara is the General Manager. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Entrepreneurship) from Kenya Methodist University and is currently pursuing a Master Degree in Business Administration -Marketing Option from the same University. He also holds a Diploma in Insurance from College of Insurance – (AIIK). James is a member of Insurance Institute of Kenya (IIK).
He has over 20 years of experience working in the insurance sector in various fields such as Underwriting, Sales, Marketing and Customer Service.
Caroline Wachera
Caroline Wachera – Claims Manager
Ms. Wachera oversees the claims department. Prior to this, she worked in the insurance industry for over 10 years and has grown her career from an account assistant to claims manager. She holds an advanced diploma in insurance (ACII) as well as a management diploma. Currently she is pursuing FCII (Fellow-Chartered Insurance Institute).
Samuel Kinyanjui
Samuel Kinyanjui – Manager-Medical & Life
Mr. Ndungu is responsible for the operations and marketing of the medical and life division. He has more than 10 years of experience in the local healthcare market, as well as life assurance and retirement benefits. He holds a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science from Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology and is pursuing a Diploma with the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).
Alfred Gichina
Alfred Gichina – Finance Manager
CPA. Alfred Gichina Njeri is in charge of the Finance and Credit Control Department in the
Company. He has extensive experience in both Audit, Accounting and Finance. He holds a
BCom degree in Finance from KCA University, CPA-K and he is also a Member of ICPAK.
Hellen Wamuyu
Human Resource/Administration Manager
Hellen Wamuyu – Human Resource/Administration Manager
Wamuyu oversees the HR/Admin department. Prior to this, she worked in the insurance industry for over 10 years and has grown her career from a receptionist to Executive Secretary and HR/Admin manager. She holds a certificate in Office Administration, Certificate of Executive Insurance Proficiency.
